Bullying is prevalent around the world, every second, every minute. It can have devastating effects on any individual and has led (and can lead) to many unfortunate suicides and suicide-attempts. Since the introduction of the Internet, cyber-bullying has become a major alternate form of face to face bullying. Words can hurt like a knife. Fortunately, charities like Ditch The Label, helps “combats bullying and promotes the importance of equality and diversity”.

Little Mix’s Jesy Nelson experienced a very similar feel when on the X-Factor with her 3 bandmates Jade Thirlwall, Jesy Nelson, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock. The backlash against her prompted multiple breakdowns during the airing of the show.

Obviously when you got your own insecurities. And you know them yourself, and then when people go and tell you and write them on websites for everyone to see. It makes you feel kind of rubbish. Being in a girl group, with three beautiful girls, they’re obviously a lot slimmer and smaller than me obviously i’m a lot bigger. I don’t know, I find it really hard when people publicize it..

So far, over 450 pounds (and rising) have been donated to the charity drive (click HERE to donate), in appreciation for Jesy Nelson. This isn’t only about helping spread the awareness of the damaging effects of any kind/form of bullying, but the daily inspiration Nelson brings to many of her fans worldwide. Her growth and immense transformation (in regards to finding a new found confidence) after the show is a perfect example that things do and will get better.

Not only did the caring and passionate support of her 3 best friends help her, but the inner confidence to keep going despite these negative comments. Check out the glamorous diva on Cosmopolitan below. Stunning since the beginning.

Songs like ‘Little Me’ and ‘Change Your Life’ have also served as major empowerment songs coming from the Little Mix discography. During a stop at Dublin for their Get Weird tour, Jesy Nelson talks about the prior stating:

If you’re ever feeling really crap about yourself, or you’re not feeling confident. This is exactly why we wrote this song.

Jesy Nelson said before that she was “in a girl group with three beautiful girls”,  but we all know that Little Mix is and has always consisted of FOUR beautiful girls who continue to thrive and inspire each and every day.
